Wacker Neuson celebrates anniversary: 10 years of location Hörsching
20. September 2022, 15:09
Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Hörsching site with celebratory speeches and a convivial get-together.
There was much to celebrate: during its ten-year anniversary, the site's sales have more than doubled and the workforce has grown from 510 to 1,157 employees - with further growth in prospect. More than 800 employees used the afternoon to look back as well as forward together. "With the celebration of our 10th anniversary, we would like to thank our workforce for their great work. The mood, the spirit and the joy of the entire team can hardly be put into words," the managing directors Stefan Bogner, Andreas Kampenhuber and Robert Finzel agree. In June 2011, the groundbreaking ceremony took place in the immediate vicinity of the airport. Within eleven months, one of the most modern and largest compact equipment plants in the world was built here with a built-up area of 46,000 square meters. The site was already expanded in 2015, with the investment totaling 71 million euros. Since moving into the Hörschinger Flughafenstraße in 2012, Wacker Neuson has more than doubled revenue, production volume and the number of employees at the site. The 17-hectare site is currently home to five assembly lines for excavators and dumpers, a plant building with 8,700 m² of office space, a 21,100 m² assembly hall and a 5,500 m² paint shop. This year, in addition to conversion work to create new jobs, the construction of a photovoltaic system and the expansion of the parking lot, numerous investments were added. An 8-hectare test track for the development and testing of new products - including electrically powered and autonomous construction machinery - was built in the immediate vicinity of the plant. As part of the globally active Wacker Neuson Group, Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH is responsible for the production of excavators with an operating weight of 0.8 to 14.5 tons and dumpers with a payload of up to 10 tons.
Cooperation with John Deere ensures further growth at the site
Successful product development and strategic partnerships enable above-average international growth. For this reason, the Wacker Neuson Group and John Deere Construction & Forestry Company, a leading global manufacturer of machines for the agricultural, forestry and construction industries, entered into a strategic cooperation in the mini and compact excavator segment in June 2022. The agreement reached covers a long-term, exclusive OEM supply contract for mini and compact excavators weighing less than five tons and also includes battery-electric excavators. "The cooperation with John Deere entails the expansion of production capacities and investments in the low double-digit million euro range. This is a strong signal for our site," explains Stefan Bogner, Spokesman of the Management Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH.
200 skilled employees wanted by the end of the year
"We are therefore extremely optimistic about the future. In order to meet the current and growing order volume, we are looking for more than 200 new employees by the end of the year in all areas of research & development, IT and production. From the initial idea to the start of production, everything is handled under one roof. We have numerous exciting fields of activity in modern mechanical engineering, combining the classic disciplines with electrics & electronics as well as software development. In addition, we are looking for qualified and committed employees for the assembly of our excavators and dumpers. Our job offers are absolutely diverse, very varied and characterized by challenging activities with a high degree of personal responsibility and attractive working time models. Numerous benefits and a state-of-the-art working environment round off our job offers," explains Stefan Bogner.
Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH celebrates its employees
The festivities were opened by Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hans Neunteufel and Dr. Karl Tragl, CEO of the Wacker Neuson Group, who thanked the entire workforce for their dedication and for their commitment and dedication. In the evening, music accompanied the singing and dancing in the marquee. New products were presented, the rides Autodrom and Tagada made countless rounds on the forecourt, while a giant football soccer tournament was held in the showroom.
